Phi - your interface to p2p energy

System and software design

Developed in 2017 in collaboration with Artem Stepanov, Calum Bowden, Cory Levinson, and Yin Aiwen

Commissioned by Strelka Institute in Moscow

Phi is a speculative design project that critically analyses the current situation on energy markets arguing that transition to clean energy requires people to participate in the energy system.

Phi proposes a digital jurisdiction based on peer-to-peer networks to distribute renewable energy resources, and a web-based simulation where users can design microgrids in remote areas. Social obligation and trust, rather than the consumption of electricity, becomes the source of value and network stability.
